Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Edson Gomes and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monteiro avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Monteiro shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Henderson counters with a shoot takedown. Monteiro fights it but they end up in guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Monteiro throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Henderson escapes and throws Monteiro's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Henderson is trying to control the action in half guard but Monteiro is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Henderson looks up at the clock and then as Monteiro takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Henderson smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Monteiro gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Monteiro is looking to control Henderson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Monteiro avoid being mounted?

Henderson wants to control but Monteiro is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Henderson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Monteiro is looking for a sweep. Henderson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Henderson is trying to control. Monteiro wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Monteiro makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Monteiro.

Monteiro might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Henderson haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Henderson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Monteiro is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Henderson defends well.

Henderson wants to stand but Monteiro is controlling his posture from full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Henderson's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Monteiro has his foot on Henderson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Henderson works his way back into a safe position though.
Monteiro can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Henderson controls the pace.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Monteiro keeping moving, preventing Henderson from controlling successfully.
Monteiro working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Henderson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Henderson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Monteiro has momentary wrist control but Henderson slips an elbow through the middle.
Monteiro has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Henderson should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Monteiro has tightened it up now! Henderson should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). William Monteiro!
A relieved looking William Monteiro thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
