PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Karan Kalra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lee Harvey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harvey leaves Kalra with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Kalra gets a clinch.
Harvey jumps guard but Kalra stands there with Harvey around his waist. Harvey gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Harvey is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Kalra is defending well.

Karan Kalra has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lee Harvey.
Harvey wants a takedown.
Kalra creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Harvey's defenses.
Harvey has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Kalra after a bit of a struggle.
Kalra is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Harvey is keeping busy.

Kalra breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Harvey is looking for a takedown.
Kalra tries to pull guard but Harvey holds him up against the cage and eventually Kalra drops back down to his feet.

Kalra tries to stall but Harvey uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Harvey ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Harvey no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Kalra has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Harvey working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kalra doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kalra manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kalra tries to free his leg and advance position but Harvey is retaining full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Harvey is on top in guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Harvey has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Kalra defend it? Harvey steps over the head and cranks it - Kalra is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Harvey!
