PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Doe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Klas Ondahl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Doe comes to the cage accompanied by How could I just kill a man. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Doe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 2, fighting out of New York, Klas Ondahl!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Jonathan Paton and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ondahl misses with a takedown attempt
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Doe lands a right hook to the body.
Ondahl fails with the takedown
and Doe counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Ondahl closes the distance and clinches.
Doe lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Ondahl throws a head punch that misses.
Ondahl tries to pull guard but Doe holds him up against the cage and eventually Ondahl drops back down to his feet.
John Doe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Klas Ondahl.
Doe misses with a hook to the ribs.
Doe has a couple of punches blocked by Ondahl.

Doe lands with a short head shot on the inside.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Doe creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Doe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Doe misses with a wild combination.
Ondahl takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Doe fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ondahl manages to avoid it.
John Doe is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Doe closes the distance and pushes Ondahl back into the cage.
Ondahl is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Doe to keep the fight standing.

Doe lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Doe throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Ondahls head.
Doe lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Doe takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Doe gets through Ondahl's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Ondahl drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ondahl tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Doe just stands there and leans against the cage.
Doe is working Ondahl over against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Doe dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Doe feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Ondahls jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
John Doe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Doe's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Ondahl tries to pull guard but Doe forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Doe doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Doe misses with a short punch on the inside.
Doe lands with a right to the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Doe looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Doe stands and throws Ondahl's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ondahl is looking for a sweep.
Doe has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Ondahl is desperately trying to improve his position but Doe has a good base and remains in mount.
Ondahl tries to hold on but Doe pushes him away.
Doe landing strikes, looking to finish!

Ondahl can't escape the position.
Doe takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Ondahl keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Doe controlling from the full mount.
Doe wants to control the action but instead Ondahl gets a body lock and reverses into Doe's guard! Nice work!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ondahl throws an elbow that misses. Doe uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ondahl's guard. Nice move by Doe!
Doe wants to pass the guard but Ondahl is keeping the position.
Ondahl is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Ondahl looking for a guillotine here but Doe defends easily.

Ondahl is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Doe defends well.
Ondahl is trying to hold Doe in close to prevent damage but Doe has managed to pass into half guard.
Ondahl tries to roll over but Doe keeps him under control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ondahl makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ondahl.

Doe scores with a hook to the body. Ondahl takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Doe forces Ondahl back against the cage and clinches.
Ondahl lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Doe is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ondahl can do to turn this around?
Doe lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Doe throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Doe breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ondahl shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Doe as he jumps to the side.
Doe fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ondahl.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Doe connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Doe moves into range and clinches up with Ondahl.
Doe lands a left hand.
Doe lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Doe lands with a left to the head.
Doe wants to break the clinch but can't.
Doe using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Ondahl has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Doe tries to land knees in the clinch but Ondahl avoids the damage to the body.
Doe missing with knees to the body.
Doe stalling in the clinch but Ondahl improves position.
The referee calls for Doe to work.
Ondahl is trying to pull guard but Doe turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Ondahl shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Doe pinned against the cage. Doe gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ondahl swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Doe counters with a straight right hand.
Doe throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Doe dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Sloppy strikes from Doe. Those never looked like landing.
Doe pulls out of a head kick attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Doe fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Ondahl has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nice takedown defense from Doe. No joy for Ondahl on that attempt.
John Doe is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ondahl is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
John Doe is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Doe moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Doe showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Doe, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, John Doe was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
