The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Kid tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

The Kid moves in looking to clinch but Paredes pushes him off.
The Kid tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Paredes manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Paredes uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by The Kid.
Paredes punishes The Kid's body with a nice straight punch.

Paredes dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Paredes closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. The Kid did well to prevent Paredes getting side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Paredes takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Paredes winds up and cracks The Kid with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Paredes uses his free foot to push down on The Kid's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for The Kid.
