The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tomson blocks the body kick.
Brooks keeps the fight on the outside.
Tomson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Tomson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Brooks's half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brooks tries to kick Tomson off but Tomson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Tomson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Brooks is just riding it out for now. Tomson eventually gives up the hold.
