Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carl Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ross leaves Johnson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Johnson shoots in but no luck this time.

Johnson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Ross tries to get to full guard but Johnson has control of the leg.

Ross makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Johnson lands a slapping body shot.
Ross closes the distance and clinches up with Johnson, looking for a takedown. Ross pushes Johnson against the cage but Johnson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ross will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Johnson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ross was covering up waiting for the punch and Johnson finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Ross is breathing heavily.
Ross is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Ross escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Johnson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson stays in close to Ross's body and controls the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Carl Johnson wasn't active enough on the ground.

Ross swats away the attempt to clinch by Johnson.

Johnson drives through and clinches with Ross against the cage.

Johnson gets control of Ross's arms and successfully pulls guard. Johnson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Ross postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Carl Johnson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Ross wanted to stand there but Johnson had control of the position.

Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch but Ross swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Johnson throws a right hand that Ross ducks under and follows up with a left that Ross also avoids with ease.

Ross stops Johnson from getting back to his feet.
Ross is stalling here. Johnson is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Ross seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Johnson has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
You can see the frustration on Ross's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Johnson decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Johnson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ross throws a head kick that misses.

Johnson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Johnson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Johnson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ross is just riding it out for now. Johnson eventually gives up the hold.
Johnson is looking to take a break and control but Ross is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Carl Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Carl Johnson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Johnson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
