PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between James Block (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Des Perado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, James Block!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Des Perado!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Ackerman and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Block gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Perado to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Perado is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Block bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Perado's guard.

Perado kicks Block off and gets to his feet.
Horrible takedown by Block or perhaps it was just good defense by Perado which made him look bad.

Perado fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Block to the ground. Perado is now in Block's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Perado's corner is telling him to maintain position.
It looks like Perado might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Perado controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Block working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Perado doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Perado manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Perado working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Block's head.
Perado is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Des Perado has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Perado throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Block was covering up waiting for the punch and Perado finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Block is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Perado is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Perado really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Block. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Perado decides to take the fight back to the feet.
James Block is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Perado shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Perado was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Perado cracks Block with a big right hand but Block just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Block takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The referee asks Perado politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Perado prefers to stall for the moment though.
Let's hope that Perado has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Des Perado showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

A big strike lands for Perado! That's really hurt Block and he's turned his back - Perado keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Perado jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Our winner, Des Perado, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
