Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joe Dirt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Grimes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Dirt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rick Grimes !
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dirt doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Grimes counters with a left and a right that stings Dirt.
Grimes misses with a two punch combination.
Grimes uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Dirt.
Dirt takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Dirt misses with a hook. Grimes ducked under it nicely.
Dirt misses with a takedown
and Grimes counters with a nice body shot.
Grimes fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Dirt gets a double leg takedown into Grimes 's guard.
Grimes manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Grimes lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Grimes cracks Dirt with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Grimes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Grimes is trying to control the position but Dirt postures up.

Grimes is looking for a triangle but Dirt pushes his legs off easily.

Dirt drops back looking for a leg! Grimes is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Grimes manages to kick Dirt off! Dirt jumps back into Grimes 's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Grimes is on top in guard.

Grimes postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Dirt working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Grimes .
Grimes throws a strike but Dirt rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Dirt wants to pass the guard but Grimes is keeping the position.

Dirt slips nicely into half guard.

Dirt seems to be working for a kimura but Grimes defends the submission attempt.

Grimes is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Dirt's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Dirt's back!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Grimes slaps away a takedown attempt from Dirt, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Grimes bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dirt's guard.
Grimes wanted to stand there but Dirt had control of the position.

Grimes is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Dirt is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Dirt has escaped and now he's on top!

Rick Grimes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Dirt throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Grimes throws a right and a left that Dirt avoids nicely.
Grimes displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Dirt throws out the jab.
Grimes lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Dirt throws a lazy right hand but Grimes sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Dirt closes this distance looking for a takedown but Grimes circles away.

Dirt shoots in for a takedown but Grimes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Grimes throws a nice looking combination but Dirt bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Grimes counters with a three punch combo that has Dirt backing up. Dirt nods at Grimes to acknowledge the strikes.

Dirt throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Grimes lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dirt circles away quickly and effectively.
Grimes fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Dirt is out of range.
Horrible takedown by Grimes or perhaps it was just good defense by Dirt which made him look bad.
Dirt looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Grimes is fending him off so far but Dirt persists. Nope, Grimes circles away and we're back to standing.

Grimes shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Dirt manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Grimes slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Grimes is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Dirt looks calm but he's in trouble here. Grimes gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Dirt is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Grimes lets go of the hold and Dirt can pop his arm back in it's socket.
