PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ralph Jakort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wandeco Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Silva's choice of entrance music: Mad Dog. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ralph Jakort!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wandeco Silva!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Leandro Rodrigues and Felipe Paraventi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jakort tries to clinch but Silva moves out of range.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Jakort on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Jakort on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Jakort avoids the head kick by Silva.
Jakort moves out of range of the body kick from Silva.

Silva gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jakort takes a knee right on the jaw!
Jakort misses with an elbow over the top.

Silva gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Jakort has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Silva can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva postures up in Jakort's guard and throws a big left but Jakort blocks it.

Silva won't allow Jakort to sweep him here.
Silva throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jakort works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Silva must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Wandeco Silva wasn't active enough on the ground.
Silva fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Jakort has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Jakort shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Silva pinned against the cage. Silva gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A solid body kick from Silva.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Silva feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jakort is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Silva is aware though and is defending well.
Jakort is breathing heavily.

Jakort pushes a forearm under Silva's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Silva is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ralph Jakort!
In his post fight interview, Ralph Jakort started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
