The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Aldo, right into the meat.

Aldo bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Yaj is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Aldo wants to stand and escape but instead Yaj has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Aldo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mirko Aldo hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Yaj drives through with a takedown into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Yaj accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yaj postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Aldo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Yaj is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Yaj passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Aldo!

Aldo is bucking up trying to escape but Yaj cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
