The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clay stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Clay wants it to stay on the feet.
Clay leaves Smith with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Aaron Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Clay is trying to maintain the position but Smith is very close to passing his half guard.

Clay ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smith moves away.

Clay fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Smith manages to avoid it.

and Clay counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Smith dives in and grabs Clay's left leg, looking for a takedown. Clay pushes down on Smith's head and hops out.
Smith takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Smith looks for a takedown but Clay sprawls well.
Smith misses with a takedown attempt - Clay sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Clay throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Clay fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Smith looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Smith walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Smith fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A punch lands to the side of Smith 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Clay lands a nice shot that snaps Smith's head back.
Smith is rocked!
Clay connects with a body shot that sends Smith's belly button to the back.
Smith is still on wobbly legs! Can Clay finish him?
Smith looks winded!
Smith blocks a low kick nicely.
Smith seems to have recovered his senses.
Clay measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Smith! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!
