The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smolen leaves Ramos with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Ramos shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Smolen tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ramos swivels and escapes.
Ramos fails in his attempt to clinch.
Smolen checks a low kick from Ramos.
Smolen throws a series of punches but Ramos moves out of range.
Smolen tries to bum rush Ramos with a series of wild strikes but Ramos uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Ramos drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Ramos trying to control the position from guard on top but Smolen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Smolen looking for a triangle here. Ramos is fighting it but it looks tight! Smolen pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Ramos is tapping out - this one is all over!
