PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mark Reynolds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andreas Almdudler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andreas Almdudler told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andreas Almdudler!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Vladimir Khabensky and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reynolds fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Almdudler looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Almdudler misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Reynolds getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

Almdudler closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Reynolds is looking to regain half guard here but Almdudler keeps moving and retains side control.

Almdudler postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Reynolds looks a forlorn figure.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

A close second round but Andreas Almdudler will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Almdudler shoots in for a takedown but Reynolds shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Reynolds throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Almdudler stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Andreas Almdudler is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
