Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Larry Monthan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mirko Boban (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boban has chosen Ana Tijoux - 1977 as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Larry Monthan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mirko Boban!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monthan shoots for a double leg takedown but Boban sprawls well. He's pushed Monthan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Boban instigates a clinch.

Monthan pulls guard effortlessly.

Monthan is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Monthan striking off his back but it's not causing Boban any problems.

Monthan throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Boban escapes and throws Monthan's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Monthan tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Boban throwing strikes but Monthan manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Monthan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Boban lands a nice hook to Monthan's body. Monthan takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Boban ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Mirko Boban seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Boban shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Boban was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Monthan sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Monthan flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Monthan gets full guard.

Monthan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Boban decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Monthan tries to sprawl but Boban drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Monthan is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Boban pulls his head out easily.

Boban thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Monthan's head.
Boban is controlling the pace.

Boban lands a big shot there that rocks Monthan but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Monthan wants to hold on but Boban pushes him away.
Monthan can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Larry Monthan will probably get the nod.

Boban closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Monthan did well to prevent Boban getting side control.
Monthan tries to get to full guard but Boban has control of the leg.
Boban is trying to control the action in half guard but Monthan is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Monthan wants to control but Boban is keeping busy.
Monthan preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Boban blocks the strikes from Monthan.

Monthan had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Boban defends it easily.

Monthan is working to avoid the ground and pound but Boban connects with a decent elbow.

Monthan pushes Boban away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Boban gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Monthan tries to bench press Boban off him but Boban keeps the position.
Monthan wants to control but Boban postures up.

Monthan shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Boban counters with a takedown into side control.

Monthan is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Boban wants to take a breather but Monthan manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Boban.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Monthan wants to stand and escape but Boban is having none of it.
Monthan not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Boban trying to control the position from guard on top but Monthan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Monthan looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Boban is defending well. Monthan quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Boban has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Monthan celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
