PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jake Crixus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Aragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crixus comes to the cage accompanied by Face The Pain. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aragon drives through and clinches with Crixus against the cage.

Aragon jumps into guard, dragging Crixus to the mat.
Crixus would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Aragon is pulling down on Crixus's head to control his posture.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Aragon is on top in guard.
Crixus wants to get back to his feet but Aragon passes into half guard.

Crixus is letting Aragon control him for a moment.

Diego Aragon has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Aragon swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Aragon moves into range and clinches up with Crixus.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Aragon decides to pull guard.
Crixus is fighting to break Aragon's control of his arms but Aragon is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Aragon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Aragon seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Aragon moves nicely into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Crixus is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Aragon is controlling him well.
Crixus is breathing heavily.
Aragon staying calm.
Let's hope that Aragon has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Crixus pushes Aragon away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Aragon gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Aragon drives through and clinches with Crixus against the cage.
Crixus is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Aragon jumps guard.
Aragon pulls Crixus in close to his closed guard and prevents Crixus from doing any damage or advancing position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Aragon has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Crixus avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Aragon in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Crixus is looking to control Aragon's arms but Aragon gets an underhook and turns him. Now Crixus has his back to the cage.

Aragon breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Crixus counters with a three punch combo that has Aragon backing up. Aragon nods at Crixus to acknowledge the strikes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Aragon throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Aragon uses his free foot to push down on Crixus's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Crixus.

What can Crixus do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Aragon throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Crixus stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Well Aragon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
