The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pineiro shoots in for a takedown but Waters shows good takedown defense.
Waters is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Pineiro has closed the distance and engaged Waters in a clinch.
Waters tries a knee to the head but Pineiro blocks it.
Pineiro jumps guard but Waters turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Pineiro is trying to break the clinch but Waters is controlling him.
Pineiro tries to pull guard but Waters holds him up against the cage and eventually Pineiro drops back down to his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Waters is not content to let Pineiro control the position.

Waters tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Pineiro manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Pineiro closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Waters quickly recovers to half guard.

Pineiro is looking to control Waters's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pineiro avoid being mounted?

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pineiro is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Waters postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Pineiro had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Waters defends it easily.

Pineiro isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Waters stacks Pineiro on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Waters!

Pineiro jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Waters walks away with a smile on his face. Pineiro gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Pineiro counters with an inside leg kick.
Waters throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Pineiro on the side of the head.

Pineiro shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Waters pinned against the cage. Waters gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Pineiro fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Waters throws a right and a left that Pineiro avoids nicely.
Pineiro shoots for a double leg takedown but Waters sprawls well. He's pushed Pineiro's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lonny Waters is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Zack Pineiro.
