Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kenny Gomi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rick Ross!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Edson Gomes and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomi moves away from the strike by Ross.
Gomi has his takedown stuffed
and Ross counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Gomi tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ross paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ross ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gomi moves away.
Gomi fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Gomi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ross as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenny Gomi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ross fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Gomi fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ross, pushing him back against the cage.
Gomi tries to pull guard but Ross forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Gomi tries to clinch but Ross is having none of it.

Gomi catches Ross with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Gomi closes the distance and pushes Ross back into the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Ross's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Ross seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gomi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Gomi shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ross manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Gomi lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Ross down.
Gomi is staying tight to Ross's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Gomi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ross keeps working.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Gomi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gomi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
