Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hubert Godfrey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Godfrey comes into the arena with War Music blaring out of the sound system. Nick Alvarez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A left lands for Godfrey.
Godfrey moves into range and connects with a jab.
Alvarez just misses with a punch to the body.
Godfrey ducks under a wild hook from Alvarez.

Godfrey uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Alvarez.
Alvarez looking to score a takedown here. Godfrey is defending well but Alvarez drives through and ends up in Godfrey's guard.

Alvarez tries to free his leg and advance position but Godfrey is retaining full guard.

Godfrey is pulling down on Alvarez's head. It's preventing any offense from Alvarez, at least for the moment.
Alvarez slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Alvarez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Godfrey swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Alvarez's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Alvarez is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Godfrey is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Godfrey has escaped and now he's on top!
Godfrey has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Alvarez is proving hard to escape from.

Alvarez has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Godfrey is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Alvarez.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Godfrey tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Alvarez is trying to work for a sweep but Godfrey has mounted him!

Alvarez slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Alvarez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Alvarez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Alvarez.
Godfrey wants to control from the top but Alvarez keeps moving.
Alvarez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Godfrey defends well.
Alvarez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Godfrey gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Alvarez is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Alvarez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Alvarez looking for a triangle here. Godfrey is fighting it but it looks tight! Alvarez pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Godfrey is tapping out - this one is all over!
