The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson shoots for a double leg takedown but Kosh sprawls well. He's pushed Thompson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Thompson clinches up with Kosh and pushes him back against the cage.

Thompson successfully pulls guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Kosh wants to control from the top but Thompson keeps moving.
Kosh pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Thompson is keeping the position for now.
Kosh would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Clayton Kosh hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Thompson with a poor takedown

and Kosh decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Thompson's guard.
Kosh wants to control from the top but Thompson keeps moving.

Thompson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kosh is looking to advance position but Thompson has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Thompson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

It looks like Clayton Kosh has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kosh is wriggling around trying to escape.
Thompson throwing strikes here but Kosh is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Thompson prevents Kosh from getting the reversal.
