The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sweeney throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
letting Ferreira counter with a right hand.
Sweeney throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Sweeney is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Sweeney blocks a head kick by Ferreira.

Sweeney swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ferreira lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Sweeney moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Sweeney swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ferreira counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Ferreira shoots for a takedown but Sweeney saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ferreira lands a really nice looking cross but Sweeney seems unphased.

Ferreira dives in and grabs Sweeney's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sweeney pushes down on Ferreira's head and hops out.
Sweeney keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Rossco Sweeney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fabio Ferreira.
Sweeney throws a hook but Ferreira blocks it.
Sweeney misses with a two punch combination.
Ferreira connects with a body shot that sends Sweeney's belly button to the back.
Sweeney swats away the attempt to clinch by Ferreira.
Horrible takedown by Ferreira or perhaps it was just good defense by Sweeney which made him look bad.
Ferreira moves out of range as Sweeney throws a body kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Ferreira counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Sweeney is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Sweeney can't break the clinch.
Sweeney wants to break the clinch but can't.
Sweeney wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Ferreira has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Sweeney uses from the top position.
Sweeney wants to stand but Ferreira is controlling his posture from full guard.
Ferreira is looking to stand up but Sweeney isn't so interested in that idea.

Ferreira utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sweeney stands and steps away. Ferreira gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Rossco Sweeney seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A telegraphed right hand from Sweeney misses the target.
Sweeney throws a right hand that Ferreira ducks under and follows up with a left that Ferreira also avoids with ease.
Ferreira's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Ferreira duly obliges.
