Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Niku Taku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mort Shula (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Niku Taku!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mort Shula!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, David Schapiro and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taku shoots for a double leg takedown but Shula sprawls well. He's pushed Taku's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Taku throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Shula was covering up waiting for the punch and Taku finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Taku trying to control but Shula is working from the bottom.
Shula is working an open guard so Taku takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Shula moves in looking to clinch but Taku pushes him off.
Taku uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Shula.
Taku manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Shula on his heels. He'll look to pass Shula's guard now, I'm sure.

Taku prevents Shula from getting back to his feet.
Taku stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shula swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Taku advances position into side control!
Taku in side control, just content to control the action for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Taku throwing shots but missing, from side control.

Shula regains half guard there - taking advantage of Taku's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Taku wants to take a breather but Shula is having none of it.
Taku seems to be working for a kimura but Shula defends the submission attempt.
Taku gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Taku clinches.
Shula is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Taku has Shula pressed against the cage, preventing Shula from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Taku pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Taku misses with the combination.
Taku circles away from the clinch attempt.
The fight moves into the clinch position.

A frustrated look appears on Shula's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Taku jumps guard and drags Shula to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Shula has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Taku is proving hard to escape from.
Shula stands up from Taku's guard - Shula perhaps looking for a knockout.
Mort Shula is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Taku shoots in but no luck this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Taku closes the distance and clinches up with Shula, looking for a takedown. Taku pushes Shula against the cage but Shula circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Niku Taku is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Taku shoots in looking for a takedown but Shula manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Taku's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Taku looking to score a takedown here. Shula is defending well but Taku drives through and ends up in Shula's guard.
Taku looking to sit in guard and control but Shula gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Taku looking for a guillotine here but Shula defends easily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Shula wants to get up but he can't break Taku's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Shula is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Taku had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shula defends it easily.
Niku Taku overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Shula is fighting to break Taku's control of his arms but Taku is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Taku is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Shula wants to stand and escape but instead Taku has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Taku seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Taku stands up and waves to Shula to follow him.

Taku shoots in and bounces Shula off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Taku is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Shula working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Taku.

Shula is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Taku drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Shula manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Taku has Shula in his guard.
Shula wants to get up but he can't break Taku's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Shula must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Taku is on top in guard.
Taku throws an elbow that misses. Shula uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Taku's guard. Nice move by Shula!
Shula has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Taku is proving hard to escape from.
Taku trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Shula wanted to stand there but Taku had control of the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
A looping hook to the body misses from Shula. Taku does a little dance to reset his feet.
Shula looks to land a left hand but Taku moved out of range nicely.
Taku shoots in for a takedown but Shula shows good takedown defense.
Shula throws a lazy uppercut
and Taku counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Shula swings for the body but Taku moves out of range.

Shula throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Taku drives through with a takedown into Shula's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Taku stands and throws Shula's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Mort Shula has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Taku looks to land a combination but Shula avoids it well.
Shula misses with an uppercut
and Taku counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Shula!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Taku postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Taku looks up at the clock and then as Shula takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Taku smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Taku wants to control but Shula is keeping him busy.
Taku landing strikes.
Taku tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
A lull in the action here as Taku stalls from top position.
Taku misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Taku tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Shula wants to get back to his feet but Taku drags him back down.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Taku looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Taku is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Shula is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that's the end of the fight!
Niku Taku showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Taku has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
