Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jesus Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Allan Melker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Allan Melker!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Eliza Hachem and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Melker throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cruz was covering up waiting for the punch and Melker finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Melker passes Cruz's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Melker is working for a submission of some sort.

Melker is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cruz sees it coming and defends easily.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Melker has eaten all the pies!

Cruz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Melker on the ground.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Melker looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Cruz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Cruz has his foot on Melker's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Melker works his way back into a safe position though.

Melker tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Melker has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Melker goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Cruz rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Melker's guard! Nice work there by Cruz!

Cruz shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Cruz was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Melker is in all sorts of trouble here.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Melker has control of Cruz's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Cruz regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Melker is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Cruz to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Cruz shrugs it off.

Melker jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Cruz is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Cruz and Melker has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

I would just about give that final round to Allan Melker.
