The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Axe looks to land a right hand but Deersworth moved out of range.

Deersworth is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Axe's half guard.
Deersworth working over Axe with some ground and pound. Axe looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Deersworth has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Axe is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Deersworth connects with a nice short shot to Axe's temple.
Deersworth winds up and cracks Axe with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Axe has hold of Deersworth's hands but Deersworth slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Deersworth is looking to advance position but Axe won't allow it.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Deersworth is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Still in half guard, Deersworth seems content to control.

Deersworth is working for a kimura but Axe is defending it quite comfortably.
Deersworth seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Axe pushes Deersworth off looking to stand but Deersworth dives back in and keeps control.

Deersworth in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Axe tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Deersworth!
