Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Eddie Farnsworth and Russell Pearce.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruiz feints a jab promting Paxton to slip. Ruiz then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Paxton slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Paxton stuffs the takedown attempt from Ruiz. Ruiz gets slowly back to his feet.
Ruiz fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ruiz tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ruiz walks into a stiff left hand from Paxton.
Ruiz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Paxton pinned against the cage. Paxton gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ruiz ducks under a wild hook from Paxton.
Ruiz slips under a jab.
Ruiz tries to clinch there but Paxton circles away.

and Ruiz counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Paxton has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ruiz is working away from the top position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ruiz takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Ruiz tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Paxton throws an overhand right that lands on Ruiz's shoulder, as Ruiz tries to avoid the shot.
Ruiz takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Paxton fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Ruiz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Paxton circles away.
Cal Paxton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Victor Ruiz.
Paxton connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Cal Paxton is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Paxton's corner calls for a 1-2. Paxton obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Paxton sends Ruiz crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Paxton is motioning to the referee to let Ruiz up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Paxton fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Ruiz takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Paxton explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Paxton ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ruiz moves away.
Paxton is looking to slow Ruiz down with leg kicks.
Paxton lands the left hand.

Paxton lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Paxton connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

That has opened up Victor Ruiz's cut even more.
Paxton lands a jab to Ruiz's midsection.
Paxton cracks a nice hook into Ruiz's ribs.
Paxton explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Paxton bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Ruiz's head.
Ruiz is still on wobbly legs! Can Paxton finish him?

Paxton lands a big uppercut and Ruiz crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Ruiz looks OK. Paxton waves Ruiz back to his feet!
Paxton jabs Ruiz to the body, keeping him at a distance.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Ruiz seems to have recovered his senses.
Ruiz has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Paxton.
Ruiz takes a body punch but keeps moving.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Paxton moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Paxton fakes the leg kick and cracks Ruiz in the body.
Paxton is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ruiz can do to turn this around?
A chopping leg kick lands by Paxton.
Paxton scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ruiz doesn't seem bothered though.

Paxton lands a big right hook! Ruiz looks hurt but is still standing! Paxton lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Ruiz falls down and Paxton dives in with a huge hammer fist! Ruiz's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Paxton runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!
