Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jermaine Dupri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Antonio Alvarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jermaine Dupri!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dupri uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Alvarez.
Alvarez shoots in looking for a takedown. Dupri tries to sprawl out of it but Alvarez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dupri manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Alvarez throws a front kick aimed at Dupri's knee but Dupri avoids it well.
Dupri looks to score with a jab to the body but Alvarez is just out of range.

Alvarez closes the distance and clinches.
Dupri stalling in the clinch but Alvarez improves position.
Alvarez prevents a takedown attempt there.
Alvarez wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Dupri looking to slow down the pace here.
Dupri content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Dupri tries to stall but Alvarez uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Dupri goes for a takedown in the clinch but Alvarez prevents it.

Alvarez lands a takedown into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Alvarez is looking to work some ground and pound but Dupri has wrist control.

Alvarez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Alvarez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Alvarez drops back, looking for a kneebar! Dupri looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Dupri looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Dupri!
Alvarez is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Dupri has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Alvarez tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Alvarez is not content to let Dupri control the position.
Dupri controls the position from side control.

You can see the frustration on Alvarez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Dupri really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alvarez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Alvarez is trying to buck Dupri off.
Alvarez is looking for a sweep.
Alvarez looks to move to half guard but instead Dupri has passed into mount! Damn!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dupri trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Dupri is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Alvarez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Dupri working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Dupri wants to finish this one by submission but Alvarez is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Dupri.

Dupri has hold of Alvarez's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Alvarez manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dupri looking to secure an arm triangle but Alvarez defends it well.
Alvarez is trying to escape the mount.

Alvarez defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Dupri.
Dupri tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Dupri tries to control but Alvarez wriggling away.
Alvarez is looking to get to half guard.
Alvarez is squirming around, avoiding Dupri's attempts to control the action.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dupri might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Alvarez kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

A close round but Jermaine Dupri will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Dupri fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Alvarez manages to avoid it.
Dupri scores with a jab to the body.
Alvarez circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dupri lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Alvarez throws a solid leg kick but Dupri takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Alvarez.
Dupri fails with a takedown attempt.
Alvarez slips a jab from Dupri.

Dupri fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Alvarez to the ground. Dupri is now in Alvarez's guard.

Alvarez looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Alvarez wants to sweep here but Dupri controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dupri throwing strikes but missing.

Alvarez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dupri is aware though and is defending well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Alvarez is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Dupri slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Dupri is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Dupri looking to sit in guard and control but Alvarez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Alvarez drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Dupri dives on top into guard.

Dupri wants to pass the guard but Alvarez is keeping the position.
Dupri is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Dupri would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Dupri is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Dupri decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Dupri swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Alvarez is now in Dupri's guard. A big mistake from Dupri there, giving up the dominant position!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Dupri looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jermaine Dupri wasn't active enough on the ground.
Dupri shoots in looking for a takedown but Alvarez manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dupri's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jermaine Dupri showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Alvarez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Dupri will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Alvarez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Dupri.
Dupri just misses with a punch to the body.
Dupri misses with a looping left.
Dupri tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Alvarez is able to avoid easily.

Alvarez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Alvarez crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Dupri - the referee stops the clock and Alvarez gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Dupri. Alvarez manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Dupri tries to clinch there but Alvarez circles away.
Dupri misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Alvarez.

Antonio Alvarez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jermaine Dupri.

and Alvarez counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Alvarez.
Alvarez is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Dupri gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Dupri has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Dupri pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Dupri counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Jermaine Dupri is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jermaine Dupri has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Alvarez shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Dupri has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Alvarez is working away from the top position though.

Dupri is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Dupri is looking to control Alvarez's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Dupri avoid being mounted?

Dupri is trying to stand up here but Alvarez is controlling him well.

Dupri keeping hold of Alvarez's head, controlling as best he can.

Alvarez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dupri is just riding it out for now. Alvarez eventually gives up the hold.

Dupri is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Alvarez's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Alvarez's back!

Antonio Alvarez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Dupri is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Alvarez knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Alvarez for a finish.

Jermaine Dupri comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dupri has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
