Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nino Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ivan Emelianenko!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Jorge Garcia and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown shoots in looking for a takedown. Emelianenko tries to sprawl out of it but Brown keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Emelianenko manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Brown stuffs the takedown.
Brown circles away from the clinch attempt.
Emelianenko fails to land with a series of punches.
Emelianenko tries to clinch up

so Brown counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Brown's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Brown wants to control from the top but Emelianenko keeps moving.
Brown is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Emelianenko is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Emelianenko pulls Brown in close to prevent any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Nino Brown.
Emelianenko tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Brown darts in and clinches Emelianenko up against the cage.

Brown breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Emelianenko gets tackled into the cage by Brown. Brown maintains the clinch.
Brown just leaning against Emelianenko, taking a breather.

Brown manages to break the clinch.
Emelianenko throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Brown checks a leg kick.
Emelianenko closes the distance but Brown moves to the side

and Brown counters with a head kick that drops Emelianenko to the mat! Emelianenko scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Emelianenko tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Brown paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Brown clinches up against the cage.
Brown controlling the action here for a moment.
Brown has Emelianenko pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Emelianenko manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Emelianenko tries to throw a body punch but Brown avoids it by throwing Emelianenko back against the cage.
Emelianenko wants to get back to striking at distance but Brown won't allow it.

Emelianenko breaks from the clinch.

Emelianenko drives through and clinches with Brown against the cage.
Brown has Emelianenko pressed against the cage, preventing Emelianenko from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Emelianenko is looking to break free of the clinch but Brown has double underhooks.
Emelianenko lands a left hand.
Emelianenko tries to circle away but Brown has him pinned against the cage.
Brown has Emelianenko pressed against the cage, preventing Emelianenko from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Emelianenko tries to score a body lock takedown but Brown shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Brown pulls guard.
Emelianenko stopping the sweep attempt from Brown.

Brown throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Brown keeping moving, preventing Emelianenko from controlling successfully.

Emelianenko is working Brown over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Emelianenko wants to control from the top but Brown keeps moving.
Brown looking to hit a scissor sweep but Emelianenko is one step ahead there.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Emelianenko is looking to clinch but Brown is avoiding it.

and Brown counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Brown trying to control but Emelianenko is working from the bottom.

Emelianenko pushes a forearm under Brown's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Brown is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ivan Emelianenko!
Ivan Emelianenko decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
