PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bethany Noel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Igor Zanta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bethany Noel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Igor Zanta!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Summer Carpenter and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling eachother endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive.
Noel shoots in for a takedown but Zanta shows good takedown defense.
Noel fails with the takedown
and Zanta finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Noel leaves Zanta with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zanta shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Noel defends it nicely.
Noel shoots in looking for a takedown. Zanta tries to sprawl out of it but Noel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Zanta manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bethany Noel. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

and Noel counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Zanta lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Noel!
Noel tries to lock up and control but Zanta gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Noel takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Noel avoids a series of strikes thrown by Zanta.
Noel is wriggling around trying to escape.
Zanta misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Noel takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Oh Noel is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Zanta unloads with some shots from mount but Noel bucks and avoids them well.
Noel on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Noel tries to get out of the position.

Noel wants to control but Zanta is having none of it.
Noel seems to have got his legs back now.
Zanta is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Jeez, Bethany Noel's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Bethany Noel's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
