Katzenmaier comes to the cage accompanied by Today Was A Good Day. Bret Jones is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bret Jones!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Bruno Hogan and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones blocks a head kick by Katzenmaier.
Katzenmaier misses with a jab, cross combination.
Jones moves out of range of the body kick.

Jones moves into the clinch.
Jones is looking to break free of the clinch but Katzenmaier has double underhooks.

Katzenmaier breaks from the clinch.
Katzenmaier wants to clinch but Jones slips to the side

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into side control. Katzenmaier won't be happy with that.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Jones stands up.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but Katzenmaier swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Katzenmaier moves in looking to clinch but Jones pushes him off.
Jones throws a series of punches but Katzenmaier avoids them all with ease.

Jones closes this distance looking for a takedown but Katzenmaier circles away.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Demetrius Katzenmaier seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Katzenmaier instigates a clinch.
Jones jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Katzenmaier walks away with a smile on his face. Jones gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Katzenmaier wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving.
Jones is pulling down on Katzenmaier's head. It's preventing any offense from Katzenmaier, at least for the moment.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Bret Jones hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Katzenmaier is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Jones fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Katzenmaier sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat.

Bret Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Katzenmaier shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Jones seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Katzenmaier is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
