Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lander Moreski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bank Rancid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lander Moreski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bank Rancid!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rancid bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Moreski struggling a bit here.

Moreski throws Rancid to one side and escapes!
Bank Rancid seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rancid shoots in and gets a takedown into Moreski's guard.
Moreski looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rancid is one step ahead there.
Rancid won't allow Moreski to get back to his feet.
Rancid wants to control from the top but Moreski keeps moving.
Moreski is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Moreski is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Moreski counters with a nice body kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Moreski.
Rancid throws a predictable looking body shot
and Moreski counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Rancid is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Rancid looks to land a left hand but Moreski moved out of range nicely.
Moreski misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Moreski lands a leg kick that knocks Rancid off balance momentarily.
Rancid swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Moreski counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Rancid wants to pass the guard but Moreski is keeping the position.

Moreski is trying to keep Rancid in close.
Moreski can't keep his opponent in guard - Rancid advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rancid has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rancid takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Rancid tries to control but Moreski wriggling away.

Rancid has control of Moreski's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Moreski regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Moreski gets back to half guard.
Rancid is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Rancid passes to full mount!
Rancid looking to control but Moreski is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Rancid is working for a guillotine from mount but Moreski frees his head quite easily.

Rancid goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Moreski turns into him and now he's in Rancid's guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Rancid shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Rancid advances to half guard.
Moreski is refusing to be controlled, as Rancid sits in half guard.
Rancid trying to mount his opponent but Moreski defends it.
Rancid trying to control from Moreski's half guard. Moreski has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Moreski will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Moreski keeping moving, preventing Rancid from controlling successfully.

Rancid really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Moreski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rancid seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Rancid stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Moreski swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rancid drops back, looking for a kneebar! Moreski looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Moreski looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Moreski!
Rancid tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Moreski wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ground and pound from Moreski seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Moreski wants to control but Rancid is keeping him busy.
You can see the frustration on Rancid's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Rancid is looking for a sweep.

Moreski is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rancid knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Moreski takes a little break here. Rancid wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Rancid is pushing Moreski's head away, looking to escape. Moreski manages to hold on to the position though.

Moreski tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Moreski stands up and beckons Rancid to his feet.
Moreski tries to close the distance and clinch but Rancid swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Rancid throws a right hand that misses
and Moreski counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Rancid misses with a left hand
and Moreski counters with a head kick. That will keep Rancid thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Both fighters circling a little - Moreski finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Rancid shoots in and bounces Moreski off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rancid seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Bank Rancid has got the better of the ground game so far.

Rancid must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Rancid passes Moreski's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Rancid slows the pace down in half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Moreski is trying to maintain the position but Rancid is very close to passing his half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bank Rancid showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Moreski lands a high kick!
Rancid fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Moreski manages to avoid it.
Rancid leaves Moreski with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Rancid throws an off balance right hand
and Moreski counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Rancid thinking.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Moreski.
Moreski shoots for a double leg takedown but Rancid sprawls well. He's pushed Moreski's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lander Moreski. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rancid shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Rancid was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Rancid content just to control the position here.
Rancid trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Moreski wants to hold on but Rancid pushes him away.

Let's hope that Rancid has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Rancid looking to control but Moreski is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bank Rancid was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Rancid throws a poor cross that misses
and Moreski cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Rancid is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Moreski looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Rancid dives in and scores a takedown into Moreski's guard.
Rancid tries to free his leg and advance position but Moreski is retaining full guard.
Rancid is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Rancid pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Moreski is keeping the position for now.
Moreski thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Rancid with a flurry of punches that miss.
Rancid wants to control from the top but Moreski keeps moving.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Rancid misses with a wild body shot.

Rancid gets the takedown into side control.
Moreski is not content to let Rancid control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moreski is trying to control Rancid's posture but Rancid avoids it.
Rancid fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Rancid works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Rancid working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Rancid tries for a kimura but Moreski is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Moreski prevents Rancid from improving position.

Rancid remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Moreski tries to escape but Rancid is in control.

Rancid tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Moreski is not content to let Rancid control the position.
Lander Moreski has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bank Rancid is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bank Rancid comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rancid has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
