PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lobsta Mang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Howard Moon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mang comes to the cage accompanied by Damn It Feels Good To Be A Lobsta. Moon is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Heartbeats. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lobsta Mang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Howard Moon!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mang forces Moon back against the cage and clinches.
A short right from Moon on the inside.
Moon prevents a body shot from Mang.
Mang lands a left hand that snaps the head of Moon backwards.
Moon misses with the head strike.
Nice body punch from Mang - that landed with a thud.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mang is leaning against Moon and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Moon looks winded!
Mang lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Moon pushes Mang back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Moon takes a shot to the head.

Mang has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Moon is trying to keep an underhook but Mang manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Mang looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Moon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mang. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mang seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Moon for as long as he can get away with.

Mang is working for a submission of some sort.
Mang is nestled in close to Moon, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Mang is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Mang is pressing down on Moon's thigh, looking to free his foot. Moon is holding on for now.
Mang lands strikes from half guard.
Mang thows a huge punch but Moon dodges it nicely.
Still in half guard, Mang seems content to control.
Ground and pound from Mang.
Moon is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Mang scores with a couple of nice shots.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mang looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Moon with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Moon is trying to control but can't.
Mang sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Moon defending well though.

Mang slows the pace down in half guard.
Mang is looking to pass Moon's guard but actually Moon recovers to full guard.
Mang throws a strike but Moon rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Mang is controlling Moon's posture.
Moon is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mang swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mang controlling the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Mang lands with a straight right. Moon didn't see that one coming.
Moon blocks a head kick by Mang.
Mang fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Mang instigates a clinch.

Mang manages to break the clinch.
Moon scoring well with a low kick there.
Moon throws an overhand right that lands on Mang's shoulder, as Mang tries to avoid the shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mang avoids the head kick by Moon.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mang throws a head kick but Moon moves out of range.
Moon ducks under a wild hook from Mang.
Howard Moon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mang throws a predictable looking body shot
and Mang takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Mang blocks the body kick.
Mang throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Moon on the side of the head.
A jab from Mang misses.
Mang tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Moon avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mang connects with a good right hand that stumbles Moon. Moon circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mang slips under a jab.
Mang looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Mang throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Moon sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Mang throws a left that rocks Moon and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Mang dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Moon regain composure!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lobsta Mang dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Mang connects with a right hand. Moon shakes it off.
Mang lands a front kick.
Mang tries a head kick but it misses.
Mang works the jab nicely.
Moon avoids the head kick by Mang.
Mang throws a wild body kick that Moon sees coming a mile off.
Mang is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Moon can do to turn this around?

Mang scores with a takedown into Moon's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mang trying to control the position from guard on top but Moon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mang working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Mang postures up in Moon's guard and throws a big left but Moon blocks it.
Mang slips nicely into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mang is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Mang throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Mang is working for a kimura but Moon is defending it quite comfortably.
Moon keeping control of the position.
Mang working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Moon's thigh. Moon counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Moon is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mang trying to control the position from guard on top but Moon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Mang sitting in guard here, content to control.
Moon preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Mang stands and throws Moon's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Mang throws an elbow but Moon slips to the side and avoids it well.
Mang happy to just control the position for now.
Mang wants to lay and pray for a moment but Moon keeps working.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mang remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Moon stops Mang from passing to mount.
Moon wants to control but Mang postures up.
Mang trying to control the action but Moon is working from the bottom.
Check out the look on Mang's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Moon looks to move to half guard but instead Mang has passed into mount! Damn!
Moon is desperately trying to improve his position but Mang has a good base and remains in mount.

Mang working the ground and pound effectively.


It looks like Howard Moon has been cut.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mang is landing with some decent strikes but Moon is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.


Moon is rocked!
Mang has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mang postures up and throws a big right hand. BOOM! Right on the button! Moon is out cold - huge knockout for Mang!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Lobsta Mang!
A very excited looking Lobsta Mang made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
