Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hector Balare!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Macena!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Paulo Santos and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Macena tries to clinch but Balare moves out of range.
Balare swats away the attempt to clinch by Macena.

Macena clinches with his opponent.

Macena has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Balare is trying to keep an underhook but Macena manages to get the takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Macena looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Balare looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Balare actively working from the bottom here.

Macena seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Balare does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Macena working the head and body with strikes.
Macena has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Macena working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Balare bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Macena looking for a guillotine here but Balare defends easily.

Macena working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Balare doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Balare manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Balare is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Macena is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Balare defends well.

Balare postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Macena is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Balare, into his guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Macena is sitting in close to Balare's body. Balare has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Macena is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Macena is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Balare.
