The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter wants to slow Cobain down by chopping away at his legs.

Cobain closes the distance and pushes Carter back into the cage.

Cobain has Carter pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Cobain pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Carter tumbling to the mat - Cobain dives into Carter's guard.

The referee asks Cobain politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Cobain prefers to stall for the moment though.

Cobain's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Cobain looks up at the clock and then as Carter takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Cobain smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Cobain decides to stand up, so the ref orders Carter to his feet.

Carter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cobain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cobain gets to his feet - Carter follows without any prompting.
Lala Cobain is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cobain leaves Carter with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Carter enables Cobain to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Carter manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Cobain seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
