The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baptista lands a leg kick that knocks Melendez off balance momentarily.

Melendez closes the distance and clinches.
Melendez tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Baptista has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Melendez changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Baptista fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Baptista plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

It looks like Mauricio Melendez has been cut.
Baptista lands a nice looking kick to the body. Melendez takes a step back to recover.
Melendez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Baptista as he avoids it easily.
Melendez blocks a head kick by Baptista.
Melendez dives in and grabs Baptista's left leg, looking for a takedown. Baptista pushes down on Melendez's head and hops out.
Rodrigo Baptista has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mauricio Melendez.

Melendez is looking for a triangle but Baptista pushes his legs off easily.

Baptista is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Melendez has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Baptista is looking to defend but Melendez has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Baptista! Melendez pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Baptista taps out and this one is all over!
