Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Owen Rose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matheus Fonseca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rose comes to the cage accompanied by Breaking Benjamin - Bulls On Parade. Fonseca has chosen Funkist-Snow Fairy as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Matheus Fonseca enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Owen Rose!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matheus Fonseca!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Leandro Rodrigues and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fonseca gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Rose.
Rose looks to land a left hand but Fonseca moved out of range nicely.
A combination from Fonseca does no damage.
Rose looks to throw the jab but Fonseca is out of range.
Owen Rose seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fonseca fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rose, pushing him back against the cage.
Rose is looking for a takedown.
Rose is working for takedown but Fonseca is calmly controlling the position for now.

Rose has Fonseca pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Rose pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Fonseca tumbling to the mat - Rose dives into Fonseca's guard.
Rose throws a big right hand that misses.

Fonseca is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rose defends well.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rose accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rose working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Fonseca's head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Fonseca working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rose doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rose manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Rose postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Fonseca is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Rose is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Fonseca pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Fonseca has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Rose clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Fonseca wants to control but Rose is keeping busy.
Rose trying to control the action but Fonseca just sinks the hooks in.
Fonseca throws strikes from the back but Rose rolls nicely and manages to end up in full guard. Nice work by Rose.

and Rose counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Rose throws a hook to the side of Fonseca's head but Fonseca sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Fonseca tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Rose manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Rose lands a lovely overhand right.
Rose sizes up Fonseca with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
A decent looking cross lands there for Rose.
Fonseca pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rose tests Fonseca's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Rose is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Fonseca bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

You can see the frustration on Rose's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Rose tries to buck Fonseca off but Fonseca is having none of it.

Fonseca remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Rose stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Fonseca uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rose.

Rose lands the left hand.
Rose throws a jab when Fonseca was well out of range.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Fonseca shoots in for a double leg but Rose sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Nice uppercut there from Rose.
Matheus Fonseca is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fonseca tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rose swivels and escapes.

Rose cracks Fonseca with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Owen Rose showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rose, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
