Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Toshihiro Kai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barry Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott has chosen Bang - By Barry Scott as his entrance music. Toshihiro Kai has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Toshihiro Kai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Barry Scott!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Roberts and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott misses with a two punch combination.
Scott lands a right hook to the body.
Scott misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kai.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Scott, right into the meat.
Scott pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Scott misses with a few strikes there.
Kai takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Kai closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Scott takes a swing at Kai's ribcage but misses.

Scott changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kai looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Scott cracks Kai with an open hand slap.
Scott feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Kai's calf.

Toshihiro Kai is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Scott dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kai. That did some damage!
Barry Scott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kai throws a series of punches but Scott moves out of range.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Kai throws a looping overhand right but Scott ducks down to avoid it.
Scott comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Scott throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Kai tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Scott is in Kai's guard.

A close round but Barry Scott will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Scott feints and then cracks Kai's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Kai down.

Scott throws a strike but Kai rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Scott looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Kai gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nice straight punches there by Kai. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Kai.
Scott stuns Kai with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Kai tries to close the distance and clinch but Scott swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Scott is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kai.
Kai throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kai throws a hook but Scott blocks it.
Scott tries to land a leg kick but Kai saw it coming and moves away.

Scott misses with a hook. Kai ducked under it nicely.
Kai throws a hook but Scott avoids it easily.
Kai fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Scott looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Kai really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kai uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Kai smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Scott fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kai sprawls well initially but Scott persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Still in half guard, Scott seems content to control.
Scott misses with a head shot. Kai uses the momentum to regain guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Barry Scott.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A lazy left from Kai finds it's target.

Kai uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Scott.

Barry Scott showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


An inside leg kick lands from Scott.
Scott jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kai fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Scott looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Scott missing with a left hand there. Kai was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Scott swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Scott fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kai manages to avoid it.
Kai works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Kai slaps away a takedown attempt from Scott, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Scott throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kai's waist but Kai gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Scott off to one side.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Kai.
Scott jabs Kai right on the nose. Kai blinks but takes it well.
Kai feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Scott's calf.
Scott ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kai moves away.

Scott lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kai circles away quickly and effectively.
Kai is looking to clinch but Scott is avoiding it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kai looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Scott.
Scott throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Scott will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Toshihiro Kai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barry Scott.
Kai fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Scott manages to avoid it.
Scott throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kai enables Scott to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kai manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Toshihiro Kai.

Scott closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


No joy there for Kai, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Scott feints and as Kai raises his hands in defense, Scott changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Scott throws an elbow that misses. Kai uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Scott's guard. Nice move by Kai!
Barry Scott has got the better of the ground game so far.

Scott is working an open guard so Kai takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Scott shoots in looking for a takedown. Kai tries to sprawl out of it but Scott keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kai manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Kai fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Scott has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Kai will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Scott is looking to work some ground and pound but Kai has wrist control.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Barry Scott wasn't active enough on the ground.
Scott will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Scott shoots for a double leg takedown but Kai sprawls well. He's pushed Scott's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Kai is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Scott does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Scott shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kai as he jumps to the side.

Scott scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kai doesn't seem bothered though.
Kai tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Scott paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Kai is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Scott shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Scott showed some decent athleticism there.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Scott is keen to just control but Kai is a slippery customer.
Barry Scott is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Scott uses his free foot to push down on Kai's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kai.

Scott wants to control the pace but Kai is squirming around nicely.

I've got Scott winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
