Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joao Victor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Burnett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joao Victor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sam Burnett!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burnett slaps away a takedown attempt from Victor, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Burnett scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Burnett decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Victor gets a clinch.
Victor avoiding damage as Burnett throws knees to the body.

Victor pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Victor closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Burnett quickly recovers to half guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Burnett keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Victor is looking to take a break and control but Burnett is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Burnett manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Victor escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Burnett decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Victor, up you get!
Burnett is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Victor avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Burnett shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Victor napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Burnett has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Victor fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Burnett avoids it really well and circles away.
Victor shoots in for a double leg but Burnett sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joao Victor. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Victor is breathing heavily.

Burnett closes the distance and clinches.

A frustrated look appears on Victor's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Victor is looking to break free of the clinch but Burnett has double underhooks.

Burnett is trying to break the clinch but Victor is controlling him.

Burnett gets control of Victor's arms and successfully pulls guard. Burnett will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Burnett tries to strike from the bottom.
Burnett is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Victor might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Burnett is on top in guard.

Victor is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Burnett defends well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Burnett gets to his feet - Victor follows without any prompting.
Burnett stuffs the takedown attempt from Victor. Victor gets slowly back to his feet.
Victor misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Victor avoids the head kick by Burnett.

and Burnett counters with a nice double leg into side control. Victor won't be happy with that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Burnett dominated that round.

Burnett drives through with a takedown into guard.

Victor throws his legs up looking for a submission but Burnett uses it to pass to side control.
Burnett throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Victor knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Burnett on the ground.

Burnett has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Burnett tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Victor avoids it.
Victor tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Burnett just stands there and leans against the cage.

Victor blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Victor jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Burnett walks away with a smile on his face. Victor gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Victor shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joao Victor. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Burnett clinches up against the cage.
Victor jumps guard but Burnett stands there with Victor around his waist. Victor gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Victor jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Burnett walks away with a smile on his face. Victor gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Burnett shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Burnett thows a huge punch but Victor dodges it nicely.

Burnett stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Victor to get to his feet.
Victor misses with a few strikes there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Burnett gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Burnett throws a low kick but Victor moves out of range easily.
Victor pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Burnett is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Victor's half guard.
Burnett passes the guard and advances to mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Burnett showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Burnett gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Victor escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Victor tries a head kick but it misses.

Burnett throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Victor was covering up waiting for the punch and Burnett finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Victor looking for a sweep. Not yet Victor, not yet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Burnett gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Victor gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Burnett slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Victor tries to improve position but can't.

Burnett stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Victor tries to keep at a distance but Burnett has taken the fight into the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Burnett tries to work over Victor's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Victor tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Burnett's elbow.
The referee calls for Burnett to work.
Victor tries to score a body lock takedown but Burnett shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Burnett looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Burnett tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Victor avoids it.
Victor goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Victor tries to pull guard but Burnett won't allow it.

Burnett stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Burnett wants it to stay on the feet.
Victor closes the distance and clinches up with Burnett, looking for a takedown. Victor pushes Burnett against the cage but Burnett circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Burnett moves into the clinch successfully.
Victor tries to break free but Burnett pushes him back against the cage.

Burnett manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Victor stops Burnett from standing up.
Burnett is trying to control the position but Victor postures up.
Joao Victor has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sam Burnett is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Burnett is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Sam Burnett comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Burnett has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
