PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kim Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Atilla Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khan is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Killing In The Name. The key to victory for Kim Smith has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kim Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Atilla Khan!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith.
Smith throws the kick towards the body but Khan avoids it.
Smith is looking to clinch but Khan is avoiding it.
Khan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smith sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Khan somewhat.

Khan scores with a takedown into Smith's guard.
Khan lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Smith utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Smith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Khan gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Khan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Smith sprawls well. Smith wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Khan gets slowly back to his feet.
Khan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Kim Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Atilla Khan.

so Khan counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Smith avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Khan throws a strike but Smith rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Khan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smith looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

You can see the frustration on Smith's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Khan closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smith tries to buck Khan off but Khan is having none of it.
Khan cracks Smith with a big right hand but Smith just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Check out the look on Khan's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Khan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Khan working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Khan lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Khan winds up and cracks Smith with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Khan lands a nice short elbow.
Smith regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Khan.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Atilla Khan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Smith's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Atilla Khan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Khan in particular looking to stall.
Khan frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The referee warns Smith that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Khan is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Smith can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Khan stops Smith from standing up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Atilla Khan was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Atilla Khan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
