The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice combination there by Steuermann.
Steuermann shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hernando as he avoids it easily.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Hernando seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Steuermann postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Steuermann is trying to get an arm triangle but Hernando is defending well.

Steuermann is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hernando is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Steuermann has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Steuermann is working to tighten is grip on Hernando's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Hernando has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Steuermann is really squeezing tight and eventually Hernando passes out! Steuermann breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
