The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Messner wants to slow Carter down by chopping away at his legs.
A clash of legs there as Carter blocks the low kick.
Messner tries to work over Carter's front leg with a kick but Carter checks it.
Carter checks a leg kick.
Carter doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Carter checks a low kick from Messner.
Messner misses with a straight right.
Messner avoids a punch combination nicely.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Carter.
Carter moves out of range as Messner strikes.
Carter closes this distance looking for a takedown but Messner circles away.
Messner bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Carter's head.
Carter fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Messner avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Casey Carter. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Messner pivots, looking for a leg kick but Carter is out of range and Messner settles back down.
Carter takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Donk. Messner catches Carter right on the button with a cross.
Messner tries to work over Carter's front leg with a kick but Carter checks it.
Carter with a poor takedown
and Messner counters with a straight right hand.
Carter is breathing heavily.
Carter motions for Messner to come forward. Carter throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Messner tests Carter's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Carter has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Carter there as he acknowledges the shot.
Messner throws a series of punches but Carter avoids them all with ease.
Mike Messner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Messner tries to score with a low kick but Carter moves his leg out of the way.
Messner connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Messner lands with a good body shot.
Messner throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Carter stumbling backwards into the cage! Carter bounces back off the cage towards Messner, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Messner lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Messner celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
