Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Austin Worner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Woolett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shawn Woolett is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Austin Worner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shawn Woolett!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Woolett shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Worner manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Woolett is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Worner trying to keep a closed guard but Woolett is proving a slippery customer.

Woolett drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Woolett jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Woolett is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Worner is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Worner has escaped and now he's on top!

Woolett has his foot on Worner's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Worner works his way back into a safe position though.

Woolett is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Worner is aware though and is defending well.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Woolett escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Worner gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Worner is looking to take a break and control but Woolett is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Worner swings around for an armbar but Woolett sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Worner's guard.

Woolett seems to be working for a kimura but Worner defends the submission attempt.

Woolett is pressing down on Worner's thigh, looking to free his foot. Worner is holding on for now.
Woolett is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Worner makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Worner.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Woolett uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Worner.

Woolett is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Worner doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Woolett.

Worner regains full guard. Nicely done.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Woolett. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Woolett won't allow Worner to get back to his feet.

Worner has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Woolett is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Worner.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Woolett drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Woolett seems to have locked his on tight now - Worner screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Woolett, as he picks up the win!
