PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cali Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Greg Jackson was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Greg Jackson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martin with a poor takedown
and Jackson counters with a three punch combo that has Martin backing up. Martin nods at Jackson to acknowledge the strikes.
Martin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jackson but Jackson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Martin shoots in for a takedown but Jackson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cali Martin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Martin is struggling to control the position.

Jackson wants the takedown. Martin is fighting it off but Jackson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Martin's guard against the cage.

Martin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jackson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Martin is working an open guard so Jackson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Jackson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Jackson manages to break the clinch.

Jackson moves into range and clinches up with Martin.
Jackson content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Martin is looking to control Jackson's arms but Jackson gets an underhook and turns him. Now Martin has his back to the cage.

Jackson gets control of Martin's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jackson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Martin looking to sit in guard and control but Jackson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Jackson is looking to stand up but Martin won't let him.
Martin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Martin looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Jackson has picked Martin up and slammed him! Martin can't keep hold of the triangle and Jackson manages to pass to side control!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jackson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Martin is breathing heavily.
Jackson swats away the attempt to clinch by Martin.
Jackson looks for a takedown but Martin sprawls well.

Martin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jackson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Martin sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Martin wants to improve his position but instead Jackson has moved into half guard.
Jackson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Martin is looking to escape.

Jackson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jackson lands strikes from half guard.
Martin wants to get back to his feet.
Martin is looking for a sweep. Jackson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jackson passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Martin!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Greg Jackson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Jackson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jackson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Martin is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Greg Jackson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Jackson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martin keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Jackson is persistently looking for the submission but Martin is defending it well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jackson cracks Martin with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Martin from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Martin is trying to defend against the choke here but Jackson has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Jackson Tightens the hold and Martin taps out furiously! Jackson displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
