Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Shimada.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Itou lands a head kick!

It looks like Jimmy Schilz has been cut.
Schilz tries for a takedown but Itou circles away easily

and Itou counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Itou.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Itou throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Horrible takedown by Schilz or perhaps it was just good defense by Itou which made him look bad.
Itou shoots in but Schilz avoids the takedown attempt easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Schilz shoots in for a takedown but Itou shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Schilz tries a head kick but it misses.
Schilz defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Itou.

Schilz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Itou tries to avoid it but Schilz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Itou to the ground. Itou escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Schilz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Itou but Itou pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Schilz jumps guard but Itou stands there with Schilz around his waist. Schilz gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Itou, right into the meat.
Schilz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Itou paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Itou changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Schilz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Schilz's face as Itou controls the position.
Itou works to advance to full mount. Schilz defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Schilz is wriggling around trying to escape.

Itou seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Schilz for as long as he can get away with.
Souta Itou overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Itou tightens his grip and picks Schilz up, before dumping him to the ground. Schilz manages to land in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We're going to have a standup here because Souta Itou wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Itou closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Itou stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Schilz to get to his feet.

Schilz throws a leg kick which misses Itou's front leg but catches the back leg as Itou tries to avoid it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Itou shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Itou showed some decent athleticism there.
