PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Proto Type (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shuten Demon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shuten Demon told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Proto Type!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shuten Demon!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Demon closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Demon has hold of one of Type's legs. Type is fighting the takedown attempt but Demon gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Demon stops Type from standing up.
Demon tries to free his leg and advance position but Type is retaining full guard.
Demon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Demon pushing down on Type's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Type on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Type tries to get out of the position.
Demon works his way into side control.

Demon stands up.
Demon looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Demon takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Oooooh!!! Type has knocked Demon down with a huge combo! Type steps away and waves a wobbly Demon back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Shuten Demon has been cut.
Shuten Demon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Demon forces Type back against the cage and clinches.

Type is fighting off a takedown attempt but Demon is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Type to the mat. Type regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Demon stops Type from standing up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Demon controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Type is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Demon is controlling him.
Demon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Type is keeping the position for now.
Type wants to stand and escape but Demon is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Demon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Shuten Demon wasn't active enough on the ground.
Demon tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Type was well out of range. Poor timing from Demon.
Demon fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Demon throws a sloppy head kick and Type moves out of range easily.
Demon misses the shot to the body.
Demon looking to land some kicks to the body here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Type gets tackled into the cage by Demon. Demon maintains the clinch.
Demon prevents Type from breaking the clinch.
Demon leaning against his opponent.

Demon wants the takedown. Type is fighting it off but Demon persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Type's guard against the cage.
Demon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Demon stands and steps away. Type gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Demon looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Type!
You get the feeling that Type really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Demon with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Type wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Type is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Demon has taken his back!
Type has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
Type is breathing heavily.
Type trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Demon trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Type doesn't escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Shuten Demon will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Shuten Demon's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Demon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Type's guard.
Type wants to get back to his feet but Demon passes into half guard.
Demon works his way into side control.
Demon controls the position from side control.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Demon decides to stand back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Demon throws a series of punches but Type avoids them all with ease.
Nice cross by Type.

Demon instigates a clinch.

Demon drags the fight down to the ground.
Type knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Demon on the ground.
Demon bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Type's guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Demon's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Type wants to get back to his feet but Demon passes into half guard.
Type is trying to stand up here but Demon is controlling him well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Demon has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Type defend it? Demon steps over the head and cranks it - Type is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Demon!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:08 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Shuten Demon!
A relieved looking Shuten Demon thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
