Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Josh MacKinstosh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dario Simon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh MacKinstosh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dario Simon!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Simon drives through and clinches with MacKinstosh against the cage.
MacKinstosh wants to get back to striking at distance but Simon won't allow it.

Simon gets control of MacKinstosh's arms and successfully pulls guard. Simon will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Simon controlling MacKinstosh's posture.
MacKinstosh wants to get up but he can't break Simon's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Simon looking for a guillotine here but MacKinstosh defends easily.
Simon lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for MacKinstosh!
Simon content just to control the position here.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Simon wants to finish this one by submission but MacKinstosh is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Simon.
MacKinstosh wants to hold on but Simon pushes him away.
Simon tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Simon with the ground and pound from mount.
Simon with shots to the head and body - MacKinstosh looks very uncomfortable down there.
MacKinstosh tries to lock up and control but Simon gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
MacKinstosh is wriggling around trying to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Simon looking to control and managing it successfully.
MacKinstosh trying desperately to get to his feet.
Simon takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
MacKinstosh is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Simon jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but MacKinstosh manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Simon tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Simon tries to move into full mount but can't pass MacKinstosh's legs.
Simon just content to control the position.
Simon scores with punches from side control.

Simon is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. MacKinstosh knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
MacKinstosh is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

MacKinstosh can't do much from the bottom here.

Simon stands up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Simon shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. MacKinstosh is trying to defend but Simon finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dario Simon dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Simon has taken the fight to the clinch.
Simon gets underhooks to prevent MacKinstosh's takedown attempt.
MacKinstosh is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Simon pulls him back up using the underhooks.
MacKinstosh tries to pull guard but Simon won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Josh MacKinstosh. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Simon is trying to break the clinch but MacKinstosh has him pressed against the cage.
Simon gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from MacKinstosh.

Simon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. MacKinstosh manages to get himself to full guard.

Simon is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
MacKinstosh really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Simon makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Simon decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Simon shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. MacKinstosh is trying to defend but Simon finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Simon throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Simon stalling.
Simon working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Dario Simon has got the better of the ground game so far.

MacKinstosh tries to hold on but Simon pushes him away.
Simon takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Dario Simon wasn't active enough on the ground.
The fight stays on the outside here - Simon looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
MacKinstosh blocks the body kick.

Simon clinches up with MacKinstosh and pushes him back against the cage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Simon has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but MacKinstosh regains guard immediately.
MacKinstosh looking for a sweep. Not yet MacKinstosh, not yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dario Simon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! MacKinstosh's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


MacKinstosh shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Simon but Simon pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Simon avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Danga de danga de dang - MacKinstosh scores with a four punch combination!

Simon shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Simon showed some decent athleticism there.
Simon is thwarting MacKinstosh's attempts to control the position.

Simon decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Simon tries to free his leg and advance position but MacKinstosh is retaining full guard.
MacKinstosh will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
MacKinstosh is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Simon stands up and waves to MacKinstosh to follow him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Simon closes the distance and clinches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee is keeping an eye on Simon - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Simon has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Simon prevents a takedown attempt there.
MacKinstosh can't break the clinch.
MacKinstosh misses with a punch on the inside.
MacKinstosh is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Simon is defending well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Josh MacKinstosh. That's going to take a lot out of him.
MacKinstosh pushes off an throws an elbow but Simon leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
MacKinstosh tries to circle away but Simon has him pinned against the cage.

MacKinstosh is fighting off a takedown attempt but Simon is just too persistent for him and manages to trip MacKinstosh to the mat. MacKinstosh regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Simon is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
BOOM! Simon connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Simon lands a heavy elbow.
Simon controlling the position easily from mount.
Let's hope that Simon has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

MacKinstosh wants to hold on but Simon pushes him away.
Simon tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Simon is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, MacKinstosh has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Josh MacKinstosh has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dario Simon is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Simon tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Dario Simon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Simon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
