PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michael Dunbar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Moxon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jonathan Moxon struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.6lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dunbar misses with a two punch combination.

Moxon drives through and clinches with Dunbar against the cage.
Moxon fails to pull guard.
Dunbar is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Dunbar breaks from the clinch.
Dunbar fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Moxon manages to avoid it.
Moxon feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Dunbar's calf.

Moxon shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Moxon was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Dunbar keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Moxon wants to take his opponent's back but Dunbar doesn't allow it.
Dunbar tries to hold on but Moxon postures up.
Dunbar is looking to get to half guard.

Dunbar is squirming around, avoiding Moxon's attempts to control the action.

Moxon has control of Dunbar's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Dunbar regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Moxon prevents Dunbar from getting the reversal.
Dunbar tries to lock up and control but Moxon gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Dunbar manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Moxon wants to pass the guard but Dunbar is defending well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Moxon seems to be working for a kimura but Dunbar defends the submission attempt.

Moxon is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Dunbar has managed to free his arm - good work.
Moxon looks gassed!
Dunbar won't allow Moxon to pass to mount.
Moxon prevents Dunbar from standing back up.
Dunbar is controlling Moxon's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Moxon wants to work for an arm triangle but Dunbar is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Dunbar wants to control but Moxon is keeping busy.

Moxon is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dunbar is just riding it out for now. Moxon eventually gives up the hold.
Dunbar wants to get back to full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Dunbar throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Moxon fails with a takedown attempt.

Moxon tries to keep at a distance but Dunbar has taken the fight into the clinch.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Dunbar works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Dunbar breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Dunbar jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Dunbar is looking to clinch.
Moxon swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Dunbar counters by moving into the clinch.

Dunbar breaks from the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Moxon blocks a head kick by Dunbar.
Dunbar looks to score with a jab to the body but Moxon is just out of range.

Moxon shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Moxon was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jonathan Moxon dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Dunbar looks to clinch
and Moxon counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Dunbar swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Dunbar misses with a double jab.
Dunbar tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Dunbar scores with a leg kick.
Moxon misses with a combination
enabling Dunbar to counter with a crisp jab.
Moxon is breathing heavily.
Dunbar misses the shot to the body.
Dunbar lands with a kick to the temple. Moxon shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Dunbar pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dunbar tries a head kick but it misses.
Dunbar checks a low kick from Moxon.
Dunbar throws a leg kick

and Moxon decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Dunbar's guard.
Moxon works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Dunbar is trying to stand back up but Moxon is controlling him
Moxon trying to advance position but Dunbar counters by regaining guard.
Dunbar is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Dunbar wants to take a breather but Moxon is having none of it.

Dunbar is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dunbar scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Dunbar wants to stand up but Moxon is controlling the position.
Moxon is trying to get back to full guard.

Moxon looking for submissions off his back.

Dunbar escapes and gets back to his feet.
Dunbar moves out of range of the strikes.

Dunbar throws a head kick that misses

and Moxon counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Moxon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dunbar is keeping the position for now.
Moxon is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Moxon sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Dunbar's guard.

Moxon frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Moxon is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Dunbar can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Moxon looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Dunbar wants to hold on but Moxon pushes him away.

Moxon is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Dunbar can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Dunbar wants to control but Moxon is having none of it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Moxon goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Dunbar turns into him and now he's in Moxon's guard.

Moxon had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Dunbar is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Moxon Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Dunbar's back instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jonathan Moxon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Ouch! a nice leg kick from Moxon, right into the meat.
Moxon is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Moxon moves into range and clinches up with Dunbar.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dunbar misses with some punches.
Dunbar wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Moxon has him pressed against the cage.

Moxon looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Dunbar trying to control here.

Dunbar is looking for a sweep. Moxon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Moxon moves into full mount! Dunbar won't be happy about that!

Moxon has isolated one of Dunbar's arms. Dunbar looking to fight him off but Moxon twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
