Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Schulte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nigel Burkshire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burkshire has chosen It's a Fight - Three 6 Mafia as his entrance music. Nigel Burkshire has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Brian Schulte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nigel Burkshire!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schulte fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Schulte throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Burkshire counters with a left and a right that stings Schulte.

Burkshire closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Burkshire working away.
Schulte looks to move to half guard but instead Burkshire has passed into mount! Damn!
Schulte is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Burkshire wants to control the pace but Schulte is squirming around nicely.
Schulte tries to reverse the position but Burkshire maintains control.
Schulte bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Schulte is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Burkshire escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Schulte gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Schulte throws an elbow that misses. Burkshire uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Schulte's guard. Nice move by Burkshire!

Schulte has Burkshire pulled in close to control his posture.

Burkshire stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Schulte swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Schulte swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Schulte throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Burkshire takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Burkshire tries for a takedown but Schulte sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Schulte takes a swing at Burkshire's ribcage but misses.
Schulte keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Burkshire.
Schulte lands with a thumping leg kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Schulte lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Schulte feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Burkshire's calf.

Schulte keeps the fight on the outside.
Burkshire takes one to the chin there.
Schulte scores with a kick to the body.

Burkshire instigates a clinch.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Burkshire can't break the clinch.
Schulte keeps control of Burkshire as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Burkshire prevents a body shot from Schulte.
Burkshire tries to pull guard but Schulte won't allow it.
Burkshire doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Schulte tries a body shot but Burkshire blocks it.
Schulte pushes Burkshire back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Schulte tries for a takedown but Burkshire manages to get underhooks.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Schulte pushes down on Burkshire's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schulte lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Nigel Burkshire is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Burkshire's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Schulte connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Burkshire scrambles back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Burkshire takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Schulte gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Burkshire takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Brian Schulte really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Firebird Designs logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
