Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Raoul Duke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maximus Meridius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duke comes to the cage accompanied by Pillz. Meridius has chosen Now We Are Free as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meridius tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Duke was well out of range. Poor timing from Meridius.
Duke throws a body punch but Meridius moves out of range.
Meridius misses with a wild combination.
Meridius moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Meridius lands with a nice body punch.
Meridius misses with a looping left.
Meridius misses with a leg kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Meridius. Duke does a little dance to reset his feet.
Duke thows a body shot but no joy.
Duke connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Meridius loads up on a big right hand but Duke slips the punch.
Meridius lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Meridius swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Duke moves out of range as Meridius throws a body kick.

Duke feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Meridius's calf.
Duke misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Duke checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Raoul Duke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Duke buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Duke fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Meridius checks it well.

Duke takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Duke feints and then cracks Meridius's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Meridius down.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Meridius attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Duke chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Meridius closes this distance looking for a takedown but Duke circles away.

Meridius lands a nice leg kick that just misses Duke's sensitive parts.

Meridius takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Meridius ducks under a wild hook from Duke.
Duke throws a looping overhand right but Meridius ducks down to avoid it.
Meridius fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Duke checks it well.

and Meridius counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Duke thinking.
Meridius lands with a shot to the body.
Duke does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Some bone on bone action there as Duke checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Duke moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Duke is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Meridius chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Duke can pounce on him.

Duke uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Meridius.

Meridius throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Duke connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Meridius swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Duke moves forwards but Meridius connects with a nice, crisp jab.
A slapping leg kick lands for Duke.
Duke is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Duke tries to move into range but Meridius moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Duke uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Meridius.
Duke takes a shot to the body in his stride.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Meridius throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Meridius misses with a right hand
and Duke connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Raoul Duke will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Duke counters with a nice low kick that buckles Meridius's knee momentarily.
Meridius lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Duke bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Duke takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Meridius chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Duke can pounce on him.

Meridius attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Duke throws a head kick but Meridius moves out of range.

Duke lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Meridius lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Duke has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Duke and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Duke tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Duke lets loose with a powerful body kick. Meridius will feel that in the morning.
Duke looks to score with a jab to the body but Meridius is just out of range.
Meridius wants to land a leg kick but Duke is out of range.
Meridius takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Meridius might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Duke has got the better of the exchanges.

Meridius has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Duke.
Meridius takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Both fighters circling a little - Duke finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Meridius's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Duke misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Duke pushes Meridius back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Meridius blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Duke obliges.

Maximus Meridius has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Meridius's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Duke lands with a thumping leg kick.
Duke lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


It looks like Maximus Meridius has been cut.
Duke connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Duke swings for the body but Meridius moves out of range.

Meridius connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Duke's hands.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Duke throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
