Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Quaid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rocco Marchegiano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Douglas Quaid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rocco Marchegiano!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Patrick Alders and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good standup being displayed there by Marchegiano as he connects with a hook.
Marchegiano lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Quaid at a distance.
Quaid on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
A slow jab from Marchegiano misses its intended target.
Marchegiano throws a looping overhand right but Quaid ducks down to avoid it.
Marchegiano misses with a few strikes there.
Marchegiano smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Quaid fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Nice sprawl there from Marchegiano as Quaid shoots in.
Marchegiano jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Quaid shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Marchegiano defends it nicely.

Quaid tries to score a power double leg takedown but Marchegiano sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Quaid somewhat.

Quaid shoots in looking for a takedown. Marchegiano tries to sprawl out of it but Quaid keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Marchegiano manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Marchegiano connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Marchegiano scores with a nice strike.
Quaid throws a sloppy head kick and Marchegiano moves out of range easily.

Quaid closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Marchegiano quickly recovers to half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Quaid looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Marchegiano is positioning himself well to prevent Quaid advancing to mount.
Marchegiano has hold of Quaid's hands but Quaid slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Marchegiano is trying to maintain the position but Quaid is very close to passing his half guard.
Quaid looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Marchegiano with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Quaid is looking to take a break and control but Marchegiano is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Quaid is working for a submission of some sort.

That was a close round but I would say that Douglas Quaid will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Marchegiano throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Quaid on the side of the head.

Quaid fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Marchegiano, pushing him back against the cage.
Quaid drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Marchegiano gets the underhooks and prevents it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Quaid has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Marchegiano uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Marchegiano throws a right hand that Quaid ducks under and follows up with a left that Quaid also avoids with ease.

Quaid closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Quaid lands in his opponent's guard.

Marchegiano really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Quaid. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Quaid stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marchegiano swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Quaid thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Douglas Quaid overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Quaid distracts Marchegiano with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Marchegiano can do anything to dispel that myth.

Quaid is working to tighten is grip on Marchegiano's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Marchegiano has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Quaid is really squeezing tight and eventually Marchegiano passes out! Quaid breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
