Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phoenix Miyamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karl Hungus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hungus has chosen Marilyn Manson - Sweet Dreams as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Phoenix Miyamoto!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Karl Hungus!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miyamoto throws the left hand but Hungus avoids the punch easily.
Hungus misses with the combination.
Hungus shoots in looking for a takedown. Miyamoto tries to sprawl out of it but Hungus keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Miyamoto manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Miyamoto misses with a double jab.
Hungus throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


It looks like Phoenix Miyamoto has been cut.

Miyamoto gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hungus to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Miyamoto keeping full guard, as Hungus tries to pass.
Hungus throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hungus passes into half guard.

Hungus seems to be working for a kimura but Miyamoto defends the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Miyamoto wants to improve his position but Hungus is controlling well.
Hungus working over Miyamoto with some ground and pound. Miyamoto looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Miyamoto keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Hungus winds up and cracks Miyamoto with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Hungus content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Hungus not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Miyamoto controlling the position for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Miyamoto on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Miyamoto is not content to let Hungus control the position.
Hungus missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Miyamoto on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Miyamoto tries to get out of the position.
Hungus wants to lay and pray for a moment but Miyamoto keeps working.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hungus connects with a nice short shot to Miyamoto's temple.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hungus is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Hungus throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hungus seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.


Miyamoto is rocked!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hungus landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Oh Miyamoto is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Hungus lands a big elbow - Miyamoto is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Hungus!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Karl Hungus! Karl Hungus retains his welterweight title!
