Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Riley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steve Roberts has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jimmy Riley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Roberts!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riley goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Roberts throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Roberts misses with a body shot.

Roberts looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Riley!

Roberts is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Riley has escaped the position, nice work there.
Roberts throwing strikes but Riley manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Roberts can't do much from the bottom here.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Riley shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Roberts eats them both and turns towards Riley to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Roberts tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Riley smiles and moves away.
Riley takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Riley feints and as Roberts raises his hands in defense, Riley changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Roberts has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Riley trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Riley wants to stand but Roberts has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Roberts looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Roberts tries to strike from the bottom.
Riley has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Roberts controls Riley momentarily but Riley frees himself.

Roberts has his foot on Riley's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Riley works his way back into a safe position though.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Riley accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jimmy Riley.

Roberts seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Riley does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well Roberts has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
